Deutsche Gesellschaft für Medizinische Informatik, Biometrie und Epidemiologie (GMDS)
GMDS is the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology and is the only scientific organization in this field in Germany. It is the official national member society within the EFMI and IMIA and closely cooperates with related scientific societies.
Founded in the 1950s as a scientific association and now with more than 1,900 members, GMDS is currently one of the largest scientific societies in this field worldwide. Officially, GMDS has bidden to host the EFMI Special Topic Conference (STC) in 2019.
On its regular meeting on 12/06/2015, the GMDS Board of Directors has appointed Prof. Dr. Thomas M. Deserno, who is now director of PLRI at Braunschweig, Germany, to represent the GMDS in this issue.
